Combinatorial algorithms, string algorithms, models and algorithms for bioinformatics, algorithmic complexity, formal languages, word combinatorics

• 1982: Master of sciences summa cum laude in Mathematics, Novosibirsk Institute of Electrical Engineering (now Novosibirsk Technical University)
• 1988: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Center of Siberian Division of Russian Academy of Sciences
• 1991-1993: Lecturer in Nancy 1 University (France)
• 1993-2005: Researcher at INRIA Nancy, France
• 2000: Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches, University Henri Poincaré of Nancy, France
• 2000-2005: Head of Adage project-team of INRIA, Nancy
• 2005: CNRS Research Director, LIFL, Lille
• 2006: member of Sequoia project-team of INRIA (head of project-team until 2008)

Some current occupations:

• french responsible of the french-russian cooperation network in computer science and telecommunications
• co-chair of Combinatorial Pattern Matching 2009 conference, to be held in Lille
