We present intriguing relations between, on the one hand, the geometry of a certain scheme in the space of matrices and related algebraic combinatorics, and on the other hand, a quantum integrable stochastic process of crossing loops. We provide some proofs based on use of the Yang-Baxter equation and on Schubert calculus.
