Elementary methods in the study of the distribution of prime numbers

The elementary methods (that is, the use of real analysis vs. complex analysis) have a long history from Chebyshev to modern times. They lead to great achievements, due to Erdos, Selberg, Bombieri, etc. I recently started a thorough study of these methods, in order to understand their scope. In the talk, I will give a quick survey of this field, and some new observations.
