The tuition for the 2018-2019 academic year is $9000 (US) for one semester, or $17500 (US) for the entire academic year. If you apply for the entire year and are accepted, the entirety of the tuition ($17500) should be paid before the deadline for the first semester. Alternatively, you can pay the cost for each semester individually at the usual deadlines, but this will total $18000.

You should keep in mind that if you apply for a single semester, and then decide to extend your stay, you will need to leave Russia and re-enter with a new visa.

Lodging, meals, transportation, textbooks, and other ancillary costs, are not included in the tuition. Estimates for these costs can be found below.

Lodging
The rent for rooms at the dormitory is approximately $45 per month (subject to exchange rates); utilities are included. This rate assumes two students to a room.

Meals
There is a popular cafeteria in the main university building that is very inexpensive: $5 for lunch. Restaurants in Moscow can be rather expensive, but a business lunch in a restaurant or a three-course meal in a cafeteria typically costs about $10-15. The dormitory also comes equipped with a kitchen area, so you are free to cook for yourself as well.

Textbooks
We have published lecture notes of our most popular courses. You can purchase them at our bookstore for approximately $5 each. For other courses, there are typically one or two recommended textbooks. You should expect to spend at most $300 in total on textbooks.

Other expenses
Living costs in Moscow are moderate. A monthly transit pass, permitting almost unlimited use of all public transportation (metro, bus, trolleybus, tram) costs about $50 (this is further reduced to about $8 with your student ID card, but it may be up to a month before this is ready). Traveling from the airport to the dormitory is free, but on the way back, it will cost approximately $7 by train, or about $30 by taxi.

There are numerous theaters, concert halls, and museums in Moscow. A rather good ticket to the Bolshoi theater costs about $100-150. Reasonable seating at other theaters can be had for about $20-50. Movie tickets cost about $10. Admission to museums and exhibition halls typically costs between $5-20.

In summary, we estimate the cost of living in Moscow for four months to be:

Expense Description Cost
housing + meals $2700
local transportation $200
museums, theaters, etc. $400
textbooks $300
St-Petersburg, Suzdal trips, Moscow excursion $800
miscellaneous $300
Total living expenses $4700
tuition $9000

Total: tuition+living $13700

Note that the transportation to and from Moscow should be added to the budget.
