**Step 1:**As we know, a whole of something is equal to 100%. In this case, we want to find what 1% of 697 is. We know that 100% of 697 is, well, just 697.**Step 2:**If 100% of 697 is 697, then we can get 1% of 697 by dividing it by 100. Let's do 697 / 100. This is equal to 6.97. Now we know that 1% is 6.97.**Step 3:**Now that we know what 1% of 697 is, we just need to multiply it by 1 to get our solution! 6.97 times 1 = 6.97. That's all there is to it!
