SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT

The Poncelet French-Russian Mathematics Laboratory announces the conference "Global Fields" to be held in the Independent University of Moscow, Russia, from Monday, July 2 to Friday, July 6, 2007.

This workshop is part of the activities of the French-Israeli program of cooperation, the Russia-Israel scientific research cooperation, and the French-Russian cooperation in mathematics.

It is organized by the Institute of Mathematics of Luminy, Poncelet French-Russian Mathematics Laboratory, and Bar-Ilan University. The workshop is supported by the Ministry of Education (France), French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Technology (Israel), the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, CNRS, and the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Program:
The workshop will cover all aspects of number fields and function fields, including algebraic groups over such fields. It is conceived for bringing together graduate students, postdocs, and more experienced researchers working in the area. The workshop will start on Monday morning, July 2, and end on Friday afternoon, July 6. Morning is planned for minicourses and 1-hour survey talks, and late afternoon for shorter communications. Long afternoon break is reserved for informal discussions.

The registration fee of 150 euros is to be paid by cash on the arrival against a receipt. In certain cases it can be diminished or waived, please write to the organizers if you need it badly. The fee covers coffee breaks, lunches and banquet.
Lodging facilities and arrival meeting possibilities will be communicated to foreign participants personally.
